Title: Carb Problems Post by cFLOW on 01/18/08 at 14:41:05 I seem to be having some carb problems well maybe. I can start my bike and it runs fine for about 5 min. then it just dies. I can let it set for a while then it starts again but after 5 mins it stops. I have pulled the carb and cleaned it twice and checked the valves and cam chain. pretty much everything but it still does this. also sometimes it will die at the slightest amount of throttle input. I was thinking it was water in the gas so changed the gas and it did it again. Someone please help me Im trying to sell it and a local guy is interested and I want to get it running. |

Title: Re: Carb Problems Post by geo on 01/18/08 at 20:41:48 What about the spark plug? Air cooled engines have all sorts of spark plug related problems. I do agree the screen might be plugged. But while you have the tank off cleaning the petty thing, checkout and replace the spark plug. |

I keep telling friends, two spring maintainence items should always be oil & sparkplug. Plugs are fairly cheap $2- $3 .... If it runs on Res and not Run then suspect the screen. If it only runs on prime, check the vacuum hose integrity. |

Mine starts just great, then after it warms up, it acts like the choke is still on, seems to flood out. The funny thing is, here, in 25 degree weather I can start it up instantly without pulling out the choke and it idles beutifully, then it dies when it warms up, acting like the choke is still on. Like you, I took apart the carb and cleaned it. Can you start yours without pulling out the choke?? Anyway, good luck...I just bought mine, knowing it had this problem, but got a good deal on it...now if I can just get it to run right. Cheers, |
