Can you put a 140/80-15 unstead of the 140/90-15?

ACTUALLY REVERSE THE NUMBERS...THE 140/80 for a 140/90

If standard shocks the tire might rub fender. different brand tires run a little different in size.

dunlop d404 140/90-15 will fit.

you might have to raise the shocks to a higher setting

or replace bolts on the inside of your fender.  some have had troubles.

My bike is second hand and came with the d404.

And on that note, I'm about to try a Cheng Shin 140/90 on the back of my 99. So I'll soon know how well it fits with the lowered shocks on the rear of the 99 (I've got them set on 5 to keep the Dunlop from rubbing. Even though the Dunlop 404 (same size) on there looks good I just can't trust it after a couple of slow leak incidents and limping home from Arkansas on Fix-a-Flat.

I've got an Avon on the front of the 99, and it looks like a good mate for the Cheng Shin. Then after off-the-wheel inspections, I've got the original front mate for the 404 from the previous owner to put on the 87 as a matched pair; because it's still riding after 20 years and 6K miles on the weathered original IRC tires! It is definitely way overdue. (Thanks to the Big Crank, the 87 started right up last night after setting for weeks, but is currently decommissioned. Partly because of the rotten old tires.)

Kenda Challenger K657 140/90/15 fits.
Fatter/taller tire does not rub on Savage.
About $40
