Title: bolt covers
Post by eanon on 11/11/07 at 12:20:46

So when the previous owner laid her down, it looks like the force of the impact rotated the handlebars a little.  I only noticed because I can't seem to get the right side mirror properly adjusted, and the brake handle assembly was rotated back toward the rider a little.  I had to take the two covers off of the bolts holding the brake handle assembly to get it back into place, and just destroyed them.  Does anybody know of a good way to get those darn bolt covers off without destroying them?  By bolt covers, I mean those little silver, plastic caps that suzuki puts in the top of the hole the bolt goes in to keep out water and clean up the look a little.  I need to loosen up the 4 bolts holding the handlebars in place so I can put them back where I want them, but those bleeping covers are in the way.  I know I can get them out by breaking them, but there has got to be a better way.

slide a sharp knife under them just be careful then you can get them off with your finger nail

I'm with Thumperclone. The hardware store sells stainless steel furniture plugs that look better than stock.

awesome.  thanks guys.  I really do kinda prefer the way the bike looks with them on, so I think I will be heading down to the hardware  store to have a look around.   ride on. :)
