Title: Who has a Tkat fork brace?
Post by islandwahine on 10/24/07 at 02:09:23

I emailed Tkat today to see if he had any fork braces left that fit the Suzuki Savage LS650. I just got an email back from Tkat and this is his reply:

Eyup, many of 'em have been put on that bike.  I don't have one m'self but I u'stand the front ends are the same.  Might pay to ask this question of the List just to make sure.

Ciao,
      Tkat

So here I am double checking to see if anyone has his fork brace. I remember that someone did, but don't remember who.

Many of us have the tkat brace. I put one on my bike last spring and it made a world of difference. I think it was the best upgrade that I did to my bike.

I've got one.  Works great!  There's a thread lurking around here where he announced another production run of these fork braces.  However, his response confuses me, is he checking to see if the LS 650 Savage is the same as an S40?  If so, they are...

Same brace fits all 650s super brace is 146.95 I have had both I like the super brace better 2 parts instead of 5.  If you look at them you can see why the superbrace is better perfect fix no adjustments

I have the Superbrace and I love it.  I believe the Tkat fork brace is functionally comparable.  It doesn't have the same finished/polished appearance as the Superbrace and, from what I've read, might be slightly less simple to install.  It's a pretty simple item so don't see how it could be that difficult in any case.  Lastly, the Tkat fork brace is significantly less expensive.  In my mind, it basically comes down to whether you want the pretty and polished brace or the less expensive brace.

I have a tkat as you can see below.

The finish on the tkat matches the finish on the forks if you are wondering.  And can be polished up if you desire.   ;D

Round is stronger than square thats why the
superbrace is better. I know it cost more you get what you pay for.

I have the Tkat on mine and like the looks better that the Superbrace.

Thanks guys!
Even though I indeed like the looks of the superbrace, not only is it more expensive, but I'd need to add another $30 for shipping to Hawaii, that's a total of about $180. Tkat's brace is $90 and that includes shipping. Pretty easy math here.
Maybe in the future I'd like a nice one, right now if I put it on my bike it would be the shiniest thing on it, and make the rest of my bike look bad! LOL

I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.  It is a big improvement in handling - especially on uneven road surfaces.

I have one & love it...you WILL notice the difference in handling, it`s worth having it for sure.

Well, I'm not sure if you've seen my post (sorry, can't remember who all replied) http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=cafe;action=display;num=1191114787
But I think that ought to give you an idea of our roads.
I'm sure I'm going to love it.
Cant wait to go through the dip on my street with it.
The county patched up our road and filled a huge gap with new asphalt, but it's still lower then the road, and it's smack in the middle of a 100 degree turn. My forks tweak every single time.

Can't fit a fork brace on KLX but USD forks measure 56.5mm at the thick bit up top and 43mm at the skinny bit low down behind the white plastic guard.

Hey, Clive.  Maybe Tkat can make a custom fit brace for you too  :P

IW- the tkat brace is very easy to install, especially if you don't have the plastic shroud to cut off ( the S-40 model).  Given what you you've done already, this job will be a yawn, and the change in the ride is fantastic.
The only question is bigger bucks for shiney or less for the  "plain Jane" option.

Hey IW
Go for it with the fork brace, I had one on my RD125LC and RD350LC and like everyone says it's well worth it.

I've got one and love it.
It will come to you looking odd, because it is folded in on itself to make it small for shipping. Take it apart (remove allen screws) and look at the photos under the Tech section for the tkat brace and you will figure it out. Very quick installation (minutes) and works wonders.
Good luck!

Send him a check yesterday, so hopefully I'll have it by the end of next week!

You will love it

I kicked myself for not getting one sooner.  Great job and as for looks it looks like it belongs on my '86.  ;D
