Title: savage battery Post by danroot on 10/09/07 at 17:52:08 hey everyone, i need to replace my battery in my 1986 savage, as i was looking online i found this bettery: MOTORCYCLE GEL BATTERY -SUZUKI LS650 SAVAGE (ALL) BLVD. (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MOTORCYCLE-GEL-BATTERY-SUZUKI-LS650-SAVAGE-ALL-BLVD_W0QQitemZ250129430709QQihZ015QQcategoryZ35594QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem) how does it compare to the "big crank" battery i here so much about? or should i just take it to the dealer? |
Title: Re: savage battery Post by Paladin on 10/09/07 at 18:04:05 It says it's a Gel Cell, but the specs sound like an AGM just like the Big Crank (http://www.batterymart.com/c-suzuki-l650-savage-all-battery.html) -- and for only $25 MORE. *IF* I had known about the Big Crank 3 years ago I would have gotten one myself. Most likely, the dealer will charge you more for an inferior battery. |
Title: Re: savage battery Post by slavy on 10/09/07 at 18:13:18 I don't know exactly this battery, but the company "Bike master" is very crappy. If it was me, I'd pass. |
Title: Re: savage battery Post by danroot on 10/09/07 at 18:25:24 so you guys would recommend the big crank? |
Title: Re: savage battery Post by slavy on 10/09/07 at 19:34:57 I like YUASSA - YTX14AHL-BS. You can go to any battery retailer and ask to cross-reference theit brand to match this battery. Overall You will get significantly better performance than the original battery and the main thing- You don't have to service it. While You are replacing the battery, do the trick with the jumper lead on the "+" terminal. |

Title: Re: savage battery Post by danroot on 10/10/07 at 02:07:21 Big Crank ETX15L Battery (http://www.bigcrank.com/motorcyclebatteries.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=BIG-ETX15L&Category_Code=motorcycle-suzuki-650-L650SAVAGE-ALL-86-02) is this the proper battery from big crank? |
Title: Re: savage battery Post by Reelthing on 10/10/07 at 05:36:04 that's it - now the big crank has wider terminals so you will need to flatten one side of the battery cable then it'll bolt right in - I've never used a trickle charger on them and they seem to hold a charge very well |
