Title: solo seat for the taller savage Post by NW-SAV on 10/08/07 at 16:25:57 HI EVERYONE!! i love my Suzuki, but I think I might be a little taller then who the bike was designed for, I am 6'2" with long legs and on rides over about 10 minutes I really want to stretch out, I wanted to share the seat mod I did last weekend, it has dramactically increased the comfort of my ride. http://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2007/10/08/bikepics-1050023-full.jpg the seat is just a cheap seat I found online, but I moved the seating position back about 2-3 inches at least. The front mount I made out of a 6" gate hinge, the rear mount is a strip of iron plat that I bolted to the upper rear fender mounts, it extends about an inch past the frame tubes and that is where the springs mount. I also kinda bent the fender down onto the wheel more, I lowered it about 2" from the uppere mounts, i think it makes it look a little more sleek. next i am going to put some 10" or 12" ape hanges on and the thing should be like an easy chair. |

Title: Re: solo seat for the taller savage Post by NW-SAV on 10/09/07 at 15:30:32 here are some better photos of the mounts- I would have liked to make all of this a little cleaner, but i don't have a shop so i am stuck using whatever I can find at the hardware store- this front mount is just a 6" gate hinge, I had to drill some holes for the tank bolts but that was it, i also put another peice of metal strap on that so I could move the seat back farther. http://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2007/10/09/bikepics-1051145-full.jpg I used the upper fender bolts to mount the spring bracket, http://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2007/10/09/bikepics-1051144-full.jpg i also lowered the top of the fender about 2", I think it gives it a little meaner look, I am going to get the blinkers and tail light off of there soon.http://w3.bikepics.com/pics/2007/10/09/bikepics-1051143-full.jpg Edit: modified links to use the full size images instead of the 200 pixel wide versions. |
