Title: Cam questions Post by Aviler on 10/01/07 at 18:44:04 Okay, I'll start out with saying that I'm mechanically uneducated. Not incompetent, just uneducated. Pretty sure I can do whatever I need to do with the appropriate information. So, information is what I am looking for. Right now there are a couple of cam related upgrades/modifications in the Marketplace forum: the nitrided cam chain and the VerSlavy tensioner mod/upgrade. If I'm understanding things correctly, the nitrided chain is a stronger/heavier duty chain than the stock chain so will wear less quickly. The VerSlavy tensioner mod fixes an (what I would call a design flaw) issue where a critical metal bit could come loose and damage other (critical) metal parts and extends the functional use of the tensioner by adding a second hole. If I'm understanding things correctly, then it's worth getting both the chain and the tensioner, correct? |

Title: Re: Cam questions Post by justin_o_guy2 on 10/01/07 at 20:43:13 If I had the $$$ I would. As is, I will be getting a chain. Also, soak the chain in oil before installing. |
Title: Re: Cam questions Post by Aviler on 10/02/07 at 04:47:10 Okay. Thank you. I understand the money/budget thing. I'm going to try to get together the funds to get the chain before the deadline, and then it will be a little bit before I can get the VerSlavy. Put the chain away somewhere safe until I have both parts. Again, thank you. |
