The first thing I would do is check the bulb. ;)

My nuetral light just went out today and i am pretty sure it is just the bulb. If it were the cut off switch on the side stand then the bike wouldnt start. to change the bulb i assume that you need to remove the speedo tho i am not sure.

my bike starts up in neutral when the stand is up/off...when the bike in on its stand & neutral does not start, could be the bulb still?

Splash-yes you have to remove tank to get to it though.irma are you engaging clutch even though it's on the stand?

The wire going into the right side case is the neutral lamp wire isnt it? Isnt that a "denied ground" circuit, so that when the tranny is in neutral a ground is applied to the wire & that allows current thru the bulb. IF thats correct, AND there is 12 volts on that wire, then the neutral switch inside the tranny is ta fault.

Almost sure that the "N" sensor is bad. The "N" sensor is located under the clutch cover. There is a Blue wire that is going out  from the right side and goes under the battery box and under the gas tank.
 There are only 2 options
1. bad  "N" sensor /switch/
2. Disconnected  blue wire under the gas tank

How can anyone "KNow" its a sensor or a bulb? Until there is some troubleshooting done, it's just guessing. Seems a testlight would be the easiest thing to get on it. Clip on the ground & poke it carefully thru the insulation on the wire, with the key in "Run" & see if it lights up, if it does, its the switch, if not, either a wire isnt getting the 12 volts to the bulb or the bulb is busted. ( all that is IF the wire I am remembering IS the neutral lamp wire & IF the switch inside the cover provides a ground,)

You'r right, the switch inside the cover provides a neutral.

Try this: bike in ( any)  gear, sidestand down, start the engine.
When the engine starts, the neutral switch is f@@ckd or the wire is broken.
When the engine does NOT start, the neutral circuit is Oke and the bulb is F@@cked.

Don't forget that you still have to pull in the clutch lever.  If you don't, your test will be F@@cked :P

By "start the bike" I presume one knows how to start the engine:
Contact on, pull clutchlever, check killswitch "ON", press startbutton.
Did I forget something??????????????????

You said "in (any ) gear...start the engine".

You presumed that one would pull in the clutchlever :P

Why then do you suppose that Suzuki put that switch there?  Some won't.
