Yes, but I casnt imagine doing it when an HD takeoff can be had for so little $$ & the sound & performance will benefit so much. I dont know what jets are in it, it might not even need rejetted.

Saw your question about the 05 muffler fitting the 87 Savage and also the guys answer about using an HD instead. Are you still interested in the Scock muffler or are you planning to use something else. He has a good point. Other mufflers give a nicer sound but if you need a stock replacement, I have it. Please let me know.

If you look around this board you will quickly discover that most of us remove the factory muffler as the first of many modifications. Sound reasoning, like sound (sic), performance, looks and weight. Please consider an HD muffler or if you don't mind spending the bucks, go for a Supertrapp. You will be MUCH happier and so will your Savage.

Exactly what year HD muffler will fit? I couldn't find spefics on the forum so I ordered one and of course it won't work because it has an extra bung that I can't plug up.

Please, tell me what year/model HD mufflers are known to work on the Savage.

Thanks for all the information. I have decided to use a Dyna muffler. Keep the rubber side down. Painted bike an Army camo color. Of course, it is always a work in progress.

Keep the nicest one and sell the other along with your stock muffler here or on ebay and you'll probably have zero invested when you're done!
