I did a search for calipers swaps and nothing came up. Has it been discussed anywhere if a different, larger caliper and rotor combo would fit the OEM Savage forks?

I know that I could just get a new front end, but that's plan B

to the best of our knowledge, there are no calipers that will fit, but I don't think anyone has researched that issue in depth. however, there are other rotors available. see tech sect table of contents.

What about different front ends? What do I need to know to figure out if it's compatible?

HAs anyone swapped out the stock forks for that of another model with larger calipers? I would also like to reduce the front end dive when braking.
