Title: My "07" Pics
Post by strangeling on 07/17/07 at 16:42:08

Hey,

Just thought I would share a few pics if my bike.

What do you think should I put an old school solo seat on or not ?

Hard to tell. The bike pretty much rocks as is. Nicely balanced. So would a solo seat make it look odd?

We need a way to superimpose Savage pieces together so we can see what our mod dreams will produce for real! Hey Greg - work it!  :D

Your bike is beautiful, I would not change the seat.
If anything, maybe a smaller tail light, but the overall lines are just great.
Your Savage has got to be one of the nicest I have ever seen.  It is very clean and I love the black with just the basic chrome and aluminum.

Very nice. I just put the same O-ring pegs on mine a few weeks back. Where did you get the license plate bracket and how hard was it to install? The TKat fork brace looks very muscular without the fender on there. Zbars are cool also. Looks like your on a roll there. I think the current seat looks fine as is.

Thanks for all  the nice comments !  I appreciate it - you people ROCK !

I get a lot of good comments around town too but
I guess I am never content and always want to add or change things out. (It drives my wife nuts) I have even been thinking of selling it lately to get something bigger but when I ride it I remember why I love it.

Lancer I was looking at putting a small Sparto taillight on it but I would have to get rid of the side plate because it has a plate holder attached to the Sparto taillight and I really can't decide whether to or not. There pretty cheap on Ebay so I'll probably try it out.

Rogue_Cheddar I made the sideplate out of some scrap steel plate that was laying around at work. Pretty simple to make I just drew up the shape and basically cut it out with a grinder. I will post a full how to including the tag light and wiring with pics over the next week when I get some time. Who knows if I put the Sparto tailight on you just might end up with mine !!!!

Its the original S40 seat custom shaped and re-covered. I drew up the design of how I wanted it and had a local upholsterer do it for me. I think the slimmed down design suits the flow of the bike a lot more and it is perfect riding position and really comfortable.

Very, very nice ... your Bike "flows" ... wouldn't change anything (but if ya decide to sell that seat!  ;))

Care to give some details on your "Z" bars (i.e. make, where purchased, width, rise, pullback)? They really look awesome!

Very nice indeed.
Keep the seat, replace the taillight with someting under the fender and install forward controls.
What more do you want?

Post by strangeling on 07/18/07 at 08:25:51

Here is the link to the Z-bars I bought from Ebay. Really good quality bars and only $30.00. All original cables fitted.

Mmmm forward controls sound sweet !!!! Anyone want to make some for some $$$$. I just don't have any tools required to make them.

Nice Bike!

Ok... Where did you get thous turn signals? I lost the lens on my left rear the other day and was looking for some replacement.

If anyone else has suggestions on other nice after market signals let me know.

Thanks,

Here's the link for the turn signals. They are not a straight install however.

I might have a couple of 07 turn signals you can have for the cost of postage if you want them.

Forrest,

I have 2 signals left you can have them for the price of postage which I imagine would be no more than $10.

PM me if you want them ok

Well done! Love the seat.

I have 2 pairs of those Z-Bars from zimlady in the 3" and 6" tall. Great deal. Neither are on a bike at the moment, but I'm kind of bar changing crazy...

I got some really cheap O-Ring pegs here:

http://tinyurl.com/2uhdog

But I see the seller is out of them right now. Also, they have a funky looking little eagle emblem on the end but for $30 less I decided to live with it.

Post by Rockin_John on 08/01/07 at 21:15:05

The more I look at your seat, the better I like it. I'm not completely happy with my Sportster seat mod. Better than the old 87 two-piece, but still too much ridge too far forward. I've been looking at the European ones, and they look nice, but a lotta $$$.

I wonder it that late model seat pan will fit the earlier models, or if I'd be better off using my modified Sportster seat pan to get modified.

Then there is this extra thick old style two-piece seat mod that looks good and comfy:

http://catoosatrading.com/images/vehicles/cycles/savage_pics/thick_seat_recover.jpg

Sorry, I can't remember which one of you folk that one belongs to, but I saved the picture in case I decided to have one done that way.

Very nice. Those signals are fine. Its all fine. And to think, I know people who think these little bikes are ugly. sheesh, owell, no accounting for taste. This is way good looking.

Personally, I like the dea of a solo seat. IMO you will need to shorten the fender to make it look right though.

The brake light barely covered the holes and I just put rubber plugs in the holes as well and nothing is really noticeable.

Rockin John I think either the s40 or Sportster seat pan would work if you are planning on a seat reshape.
glwharton has an S40 seat for sale on this site in the marketplace.

Hey... love the tailight... do you know where I find one like that??? Thanks Simon

Title: Re: My "07" Pics with New tail-light
Post by Simon on 08/03/07 at 20:55:33

also do you think the cables would be all long enough for the 9 inch bars?

Title: Re: My "07" Pics with New tail-light
Post by strangeling on 08/03/07 at 21:04:23

I got my tailight from this ebay store however I had a quick look and couldn't see one there.

http://stores.ebay.com/ClassicCycleParts-Online_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZQ2d33QQftidZ2QQtZkm

I think the S40 front brake line and maybe the clutch cable would be to short for the 9 inch Z-bars however if you have the Savage with the buckhorn bars I think it might work out ok with the stock cables.

Post by Simon on 08/04/07 at 08:29:06

Awsome thanks alot!  I do have the buckhorns so I think im gonna try the 9inch bars.  Thanx for the link to, I want to email the guy see if he has any more instock.

Amazing looking bike!!!
I did like that new seat on it though, but to each his/her own!
Makes my bike look like a grandma bike, but I love it nevertheless. You should have seen it the way it looked when I just bought it. Even the previous owner didn't recognize it.

Hey Strangeling any idea when you may get the how to up to make the plate? I have been pricing them out on eBay and I just can not afford the 100 plus bucks.
Thanks and good luck on the chop job.

Hey,

Sorry about not posting the side plate how-to yet. I have been side-tracked on some other stuff lately. I doubt if I'll have a chance until early next week to pull it off my bike and get pics. I'll shoot for next week ok.

Thanks for the reminder as I have been pretty forgetful lately.

Also here's a link to one on Ebay and it really isn't much different to what I made and its pretty cheap.

strangeling, Thanks man and thanks for the link. I thought I had that link in my eBay favorites at one time but I guess I didnt.
