Title: Performance Issues Of "Defective" Cam Ch
Post by Homey237 on 07/03/07 at 11:37:13

I've read articles on the "sound" a defective Cam Chain Adjuster might provide, but are there any "performance" issues that you might experience while riding the cycle ?

My ears are not finely tuned enough to hear what a bad cam chain adjuster might be making.  I mean, come on, it's an internal combustion engine cranking out 652cc of noise.   LOL

I don't want to tear down the crankcase cover while it's still running.

Any thoughts ?  Thanks

If the cam chain adjuster was defective and not adjusting, you'd hear a noisey chain.

In the case of a not defective cam chain adjuster doing it's job to the point of the plunger disengaged from the housing, you'd hear a grinding noise from the plunger rubbing against the gears.  Promptly followed by the sound of the piston bashing away at the valves.

If you hear an odd sound coming from your engine, I suggest you figure out what it is before tearing down the freeway 'cause you won't get a second chance.   ;D
