Title: Seat padding, raising, etc.
Post by DanGill on 06/23/07 at 13:47:15

Okay. I looked over the seat raising stuff in the tech section. On my 06 S40, the seat actually sits on 5 rubber blocks. The front hook really doesn't support it much. I tried putting rubber blocks under all of the touch points, but then the side attachment brackets are not only too high (easily fixed), but too far back. I'd need to fabricate a new bracket.

I decided maybe I'm approaching this the wrong way. I think I need to pad the seat more, which will raise it in the process. Two birds with one stone. Has anyone had success with this? Maybe replacing the form with stiffer foam and adding a gel pad or Alaskan sheepskin or something similar?

Another option I've thought of is a solo seat set a little further back and higher. I'm not ready to do that yet, but I might do that in the future. Anybody know of a good seat for that?

You shouldn't raise all of them the same amount.
Nothing in back, about half in the middle and full in the front.

Raising the front only doesn't give me much more height, which gives me more distance from the pegs. That's why I wanted to raise the whole seat.
