Title: Bike loses power and stalls on cold start
Post by sean7768 on 06/22/07 at 08:49:46

I have a 98 savage 650 which sometimes stalls on a cold start. It always runs good if the bike is warm. It does not stall often but when it does, gas drips from the carberator. It then loses power and stalls. You cant restart it until later. It then runs perfect again for a good while. I have a new battery , sparkplug, and i put s.t.p. fuel treatement in and tryed unleaded plus gas. Nothing cures the problem.  My bike is cursed. Please help me.

Thanks, i was also thinking along those lines. Do you think i should buy a new carberator, or is there a cheaper solution. My name is sean, thanks for responding.

I would think a good carb cleaning would be a good first step.  I certainly wouldn't buy a new carb at this point, unless you've had your eye on a different type or something.
