Title: Quick question: Fuel line size
Post by Pete K on 06/21/07 at 08:34:36

I need to pick up some fuel line at the auto parts store today but I forgot to check the size before I left the house this morning (I have a long commute).

Can someone tell me the size of the fuel line on a Savage? Mine is a '86 in case it is different than other models. I searched to see if this info was posted here elsewhere but didn't see it.

Thanks!

Of course, the ID is more important!

I think the ID is a little bigger than 1/4 but smaller than 5/16.  Although awhile it ends up that way.  And the od is way bigger than 5/16, especially if you get the reinforced tubing which is recommended.   ;D

So... 1/4" ID hose should work fine. If the nipples are a tad bit bigger, it should still work.

Thanks guys. I knew I could count on this bunch for a qucik answer!

5/16 will go on easier. 1/4 can be made to work. a little gas in there or heat or expand it with needle nose pliers, goes on.  don't need hose clamps.

did it all work out?

I wound up getting the 5/16" line and it worked great. Slipped on easily and tightened down nice and snug. I bought an inline filter and new clamps so everything would be new.

Thanks for the help!
