Title: carb jet question
Post by stoner on 06/11/07 at 21:10:26

Thanks to all who responded to my questions  last week.  Went out and got a proper feeler gage, adjusted the vales right this time and it now runs a lot quieter.  Pulled the carb last night and checked the jets.  I compared them to the pics and specs given by Greg_650 and all are what they should be with the exception of the pilot air jet, Where Greg says there is one I have nothing but a drilled hole, I do have the jet across from it (it say 70 on it).  After looking at Greg's photo I see where he has the Pilot air jet, the lip around the opening is dirfferent than mine.  Greg what year is your Carb.  As my wives bike is an 86 I am assuming the carb is also an 86 and after checking the drawing on Ronayers it shows two different jets going into that part of the carb (but it doesn't show there exact placement in the carb)  parts # 42 (Jet Pilot, 230) and # 12 (there are two, 12-1 as M/J 67.5  and 12-2 M/J 45).  I took the cerb into the dealer and told him it was off a 86 and he says he is only showing the one jet (the dealer states it is 70 also), the one I have in it and the other is just an open hole (I can't see or feel with a probe any threads).  I know later years (after 88) list only one pilot jet.  Can anyone tell me from waht I have stated the the year of the carb and if there should be anything in that hole or should it just be left wide open like it is[

Thanks

Stoner,
