Title: Aftermarket Muffler Options
Post by kenjj2 on 06/11/07 at 13:08:44

Hey ,

new to the board, 2003 savage 4600 mi. stock except muffler. Just have a question about Slip on mufflers for this bike. I started out with the stock muffler, but this muffler developed a slight whistle (30 MPH 3rd Gear) became irritated with this annoying noise so I went and bought the jardine slip on for the savage, (no more Whistle LOL) My problem is I wont say that its too loud but im not happy with the Raaap that this muffler has. I guess I was looking for something Louder than Stock But Not as loud as a Jardine and something with a deeper mellow tone to it. I was also considering the stage one jet kit from dennis kirk for my savage. I will say that I was happy at how easy the jardine went on my bike. looking for the same easy install with a nice look but maybe a little quieter/Deeper tone. any and all input on these two things would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Kenny

I didn't care for the overly muted stock muffler so I picked up an aftermarket Harley muffler.  I liked it, but the wife had a small objection (draw and quarter is small, right?) as did many car alarms.  But she was then willing to cough up the bucks for a MAC which, while louder than stock, is of legal loudness and was acceptable, even to most of the car alarms.

I like my MAC too.  The Hard Krome also has a good sound.

I have the only savage Ive been around, so cant say what the others sound like. The Supertrapp sounds good to me & was a real performance enhancer. I cant say which is better in any way, since I cant compare. Who wants to meet in East Tx for a cold one? Lets see how they sound & how they run..

I love the sound of my supertrapp.

Dad raced a BSA gold star side hack.  Straight pipe.

Hell that's the reason I bought the savage.  Now it sounds like it.  Dam... there's a tear in my eye.
