Title: New Tire
Post by ALfromN.H. on 05/26/07 at 17:27:30

I bought a new dunlop D404 for the rear of my bike and got it mounted at a local bike shop. My old factory tire had 7000 miles on it. It was just like a racing slick. No tread what-so-ever. The new tire makes a world of difference. He only charged me 20 bucks for mounting the tire and my annual inspection. My brother had his v* inspected at the yamaha shop and they squeezed him for 35 bucks, JUST FOR THE INSPECTION. I think I found a decent motorcycle mech for the stuff that I don't want to try myself. I asked him if he sees many S40's or savages and he said that most of them are parked and stay parked because they don't have enough power. I let him take mine for a test ride and when he came back he had the biggest smile on his face. He said that I must have done alot of work on mine to get it to go that good. I told him that I did the sportster muff, rejet, and K&N filter only. After looking the bike over to see that I was telling the truth, he said he might start looking for one for himself. Another non-believer converted.

Hi Al, where is this bike shop in N.H. I'm just across the border in MA. near Plaistow. $20 bucks for a tire change is a steal. I'm due for new tires and tubes so I've been getting some prices. Some quotes were up to $75 to mount per wheel. That's enough to make me wanna try it myself. I'm just not really excited about wrestling new tires on these rims.

The shop is in Dover. Morrison cycle. I think he may have made a mistake when totalling up my bill cause his computer was down at the time I was picking up the bike. Either that or he just gave me a good deal to get a new customer.

In an unrelated story....One of my lumber customers at work was asking about my bike all last summer. Every time he would come in the store he would ask me questions about price, performance, economy, etc...
Well, last week he asked if I knew where he could find one. I sent him to the dealer to look there but also told him to keep an eye on e-bay. Another possible savage rider.
