I'm getting ready to head out to N. Dakota this weekend for the entire summer. I started the 650 and parked it on the sidewalk. It kicked right over after sitting for about five days. I changed the left front running light/turn signal bulb. Put the key in, turned it on to check the bulb AND NOTHING! Zip. Nada. Zilch. No lights, no turn signal, not even the horn. I on/offed the kill switch, up/downed the kickstand, shifted the gears. Still nothing. Tried all three key positions, even off. Nothing doing. No time to trouble shoot yet so I just pushed it onto the trailer, tied it down and hope I can find time to figure things out before I hit the road. DRAT!!!

Anybody ever have this happen ?

light in backwards? i'm betting you blew the 20A fuse on the top of the two fuse block under the seat. happened to me twice on a short trip before I realized that my blinker connection was shorting on my tank.

Off set pins on the bulb let you put it in only one way. And I never heard of a bulb caring which way electricity went through it's filament. I will be checking that fuse though. Certainly is disheartening to turn it off and have it stay that way.

First thing- take out the 2 turn signal bulbs. Replace the fuse . Start the bike and make sure everything else works. Play with the 2 remaining t. signals and make sure there is no problem there. Install only one new bulbs /Your choice / and play with it for a while. Turn the bike on and off. Pull on the wires. If nothing burns, move to the other side and repeat the procedure.
It could be a defective bulb, or wrong model bulb, or something with the wiring to one of the turn signals.

I had this happen when I changed the front signals on my 96. The reason it wont start is the fuse. I think I blew 4 or 5 before I found the short. Anyway, take the bulb out and replace the fuse then look under the seat at the wire connections for the signals. If you find no problem there then I would start checking under the tank ad from there to the signal mount. It comes apart in two places and there may be a short there if they have ever been disa sembled. GL

Tighten the negative of the battery, it's loose.

It's good to hear I'm not the only one to have this happen. Otherwise I'm the potential problem. New fuses, bulbs and testing to come.
