Title: Very nice.
Post by LANCER on 05/03/07 at 00:33:40

I made a very nice little deal last night after shopping on ebay yesterday.  There was a forward control set that went up for sale and I was fortunate enough to catch it early and made an offer for it.
This set is brand new, never been on a bike before, and I paid $150 + shp for it.

Yes, very nice Lancer!  What are they supposed to go on?  Not the lowly Savage I suspect  ;D

What brand are they?

They are for the Savage, but I do not know the brand name.

OK, kudos to you for the fwd controls, do you believe one could actually reposition the standard pegs a little more to the rear as in standard center controls?

So that one has "proper" foot controls for city driving and "thick'n'twisty" mountains and "e-ze" controls for highway thumping?

What is that?  I am not familiar with it.

I came across them when I was thinking about forward controls for my V*.  decided against.

here's their website: http://www.mapam.it/homee.html

when you look them up, you tend to see them listed as "mapam-restyling," e.g. here (http://www.cruisercustomizing.com/Mapam-Restyling.cfml)

I think they are italian.

I does look like one of their products, but I could not find a forward control set listed for the Savage.
I am going to be very upset if these turn out to be for a different model bike instead of the Savage.

Here is the link to the metric cruiser site he was referring to. No Savage forward controls listed, the pic is from  a Marauder 1600 set. Hope it all works out Lancer.

I got the parts yesterday and had a chance to test fit them today ... all is well, they fit perfectly on the mounting bolts for the foot controls.  By the way, these things are NICE.  They are made of steel, very substantial, the chrome is beautiful, and the rubber parts on the pegs and foot actuators are rubber o-rings.  If the rubber is damaged they will be very easy to replace.
I got this set for $150, it is brand new, and retailed for $400+ ... I did good !!

I know that the general theme of the bike is going to be in the bobber/cafe racer area but these controls are just too pretty to not use.  I had thought about going to a more traditional mid-control but I like the stock position too much, it is perfect for my short legs as is.

Take a pic of them installed so we can see!

These are obviously not mounted but perhaps the picture will show them better than the previous picture I had posted.

I just pulled them out of the box and the chrome is kind of smudged, without the polish and shine yet, but they are in perfect condition.  Note the rubber o-rings.

I sure wish they sold those seats in the U.S. I can't find them here, Lancer, you should look into importing them for your Savage Store!

Odar - 3 questions.

What brand of pipe is that?
What kind of seat is that?
Can I ride your savage?  Please?

Title: Re: Very nice.
Post by Odar on 05/10/07 at 02:45:48

Tuxedo

The pipe is a Raask
http://www.raask.se/
that I cut of and put a open Dyna Glide muffler on.

The seat is from this company:
http://www.gts-seats.de/

The 3rd question could be difficult, I live in Sweden, but if you ever take a trip here to Stockholm, I prommis that you can take it for a spinn.
