I recently picked up a new S-40. This is the first Suzuki I have owned with most bikes being Hondas , a couple of Yamahas and one Kawasaki. Compared to my 2002 Honda 600 VLX, the S40 is a keeper! Much more fun to ride and low end performance is much better. The one thing that is a bit of a problem is the rear view mirror clearance. Stock mirrors just don't give the view I would like (seeing my Joe Rocket jacket is okay but being able to see what's going on behind would be even better). Has anyone exchanged stock mirrors and if so, what has worked for you?

Get a set of 30" wide bars and you'll wonder where your shoulders have gone.

Same thing I was going to say ;D

Mine are now 30" and my wife rode it the other day and when she got back she commented on how nice it was to be able to actually see everything behind you. She now has me looking to buy some mirror extenders for the Nighthawk so she can see as well.

I REALLY really try to not allow myself to get in a position to be asking" WherenaHEKK did That guy come from?" But, I do occasionally. I try setting the mirrors out a bit more, but sometimes someone sneaks up & I dont even know they are there till they are in my peripheral vision. I don't take that lightly & shrug it off. I know it is a serious issue & I am working on it. I really don't want to put wider bars on it, It wont go thru the back door into the "garage" which was built with the entrance the height of a pickup truck tailgate plua a few inches. They had a lawn service & it was for macinery, not car parking, so the only way in is the back door.Wider mirrors won't even pass thru. Maybe I need a couple of those little domed mirrors? I DO use my eyeballs before I change lanes,

Thanks for your thoughts... my preference would be not to replace the handle bars. I've been looking at mirrors that adjust outwardly via a sliding stem... Highway Hawk's tech glide system. There are some interesting mirrors offered in the UK but shipping is outrageous (more than the mirrors). I've tried the convex mirror (left side) and it does help.

If you want to keep your stock mirrors, go to www.koubalink.com. Scroll down the left side till you come to OTHER PRODUCTS, then click on Suzuki DualSport 2" mirror extenders. I put these on my 2005 and what a difference. The best $25.00 I ever spent. These fit all 10mm x 1.25 mm threads, which is what the Boulevards have.
You need to be careful as some of your aftermarket mirrors are plastic and they vibrate very bad (no weight )and they don't last.

Hi Brad...

The extenders are the "Cat's Meow". I had a set of adjustable Highway Hawk mirrors on order when you replied so I tried them... not a good solution. I would have kept them but the right mirror was scratched and missing a part so I returned them for a refund. Your idea works well.

The first thing I thought would be a problem with my new S40 was the seat. About 5 miles and damm it just plain hurt. I am a firm believer that over time, 1400 miles so for, That, that seat does in fact kill off Pain recepters in the butt, cause it isn't as bad now :o Anyway To get back to the thread. Rear view was the second thing i did not like. Half the mirror was my shoulders. I just ordered the 2" extenders from www.koubalink.com as suggested above. Should solve the rear view problem entirely.
