I recently purchased from Drag Specialties, a set of handlebars. When they arrived, they had the proper height and width and setback but were slightly asymetrical. One side was bent slightly different than the other. On the underside, they had a crushed in depression that I was told was to allow for wire routing from the controls for turn signals etc. when I put them on the bike, the position of the crushed in channel forced the signal switch units into a position with the buttons facing skyward so that they were not only awkward to use but would catch the maximum of rain.
For 55 dollars, I expected better quality than this.
Moral, do not buy bars mail order unless they are gaurenteed to fit or can be returned at the manufacturers expense without a restocking fee.
I have been unable to find a phone number for Drag Specialties. It seems they only give out their number to dealers to insure that folks with complaints cannot contact them.

Sorry to hear about your bar trouble. Easiest way out might be to eBay the bars to a Harley rider, and try again to get what you need. Annoying that you'll probably lose money on the deal though.

You know, I wasn't really paying attention to the dimple (channels) and how they affected the controls when I removed the widowmaker bars from my '99 (Deadly Handlebars thread > Cafe). Since I was removing them, I didn't attempt any adjustments...

But now that you mention it, the bars were at an oddly high rotation, the control levers were in uncomfortable position for me, and the swithches were unnarurally high. Also, the mirrors were at their last bit of movement to get anywhere near a useable position.

If you'll notice, they are "dimpled" bars too...

I guess the lesson here is to be sure and not get the dimple/channel Harley Bars, unless you know for sure that the dimple is at the right attitude. I know from past purchase that you have to watch out for the riser clamp knurling being a bit narrow on the bars; because the Savage's risers are almost an inch farther apart than some Harley. The 32" low-rise on my old '87 have about 1/2" of knurling showing on the inside of each riser clamp. Not a horrible thing, and they fit good and tight, but obviously not a perfect fit. I like them so well otherwise though, that I've decided to live with them.

The dimples are made for Harley's, and are not needed for the Savage, at least not my 2006. I do not know about the models that came with the buckhorn bars from Suzuki. The only way to solve the knurling problem is to get bars without knurling and pin them through the risers.Be sure you have the bars where you want them before pinning.    Hutch

the buckhorns don't need the dimples either.  but the nipples on the control boxes usually have to be filed off.

Also, some machine shops have knurlers.  The one at my work does.  An angle grinder can be used to put crappy knurls in, but I wouldn't trust that on apes.  Worked fine for me on drags.
