Title: crankshaft removal?
Post by steveh on 04/06/07 at 19:07:37

Can anybody give me some help with removing the crank? I've removed the top end and cylinder jug. Then I removed the left side cover and the bolt in the center (looks like it threads into the end of the crank). This is where I'm stuck. There is a big nut (36mm, I think) in the center of the flywheel. How do I remove the flywheel, etc. to get the crank out?

You need a special puller for that job. Install the bolt you just removed and back-up a few turns. The puller screws on the thread of the rotor. Hold the rotor with an ofset ( 36mm) ringspanner. When the rotor is removed you need a holder for the flywheel. Difficult to visualize without the SSM.

Might be difficult to do without the SSM, too.
