Title: Pictures of my chain conversion
Post by Odar on 04/02/07 at 10:36:01

Here are some pictures of my chainconversion.
I ended up with 16/43 that gives 2,69 or 9,2 % instead of standerd 2,96. Started with 17/43 (2,53) 14,5 % but that was a bit to mutch in my oppinion.
I did forget to say that I also have a reartire that is 150 wide so that could give about 1,5 % more.
That give me 10,5-11% change in the end and all I can say its perfect, 500 lower RPM at 110-120 km/h, and where I had my 5gear before there is my 4 gear now.
Totally new bike, dont going to need my LC 1500 no more to cruse around.
Here  is some pictures.

I thought they chould be bigger if you clicked them but it diddnt work, maby someone ( Sluggo, SavageRob) could fix it?

Too see photos larger, RT click and select 'view image' depending on browser, you may also click on that image and make it yet again larger.

Thanks for the report on the 17/43 being too high geared for you. I suspect, as Hutch and I had discussed, it would be too high for me also. Not that I wouldn't like to have the higher gear, but I weigh about 100# more than him. ;D

Oh! And Congrats on a VERY nice looking little Savage!!!

I am so glad it worked out for you Odar. I wish I would have known your weight and the fact that you had a larger tire. That is why I can get away with the 17/43. I'm just a little sheet as my mother you to say. Good job, and enjoy!!!!.

My weight is 175 pound, and that is not that big difference from your 150, but I am sorry that I forgot to mension about my wider and little higher backtire, that makes a difference.
I am relally glad that I made this change of my Savage, so one more time THANKS ALOT Hutch for making this possible.

The seat I have is from a German company called GTS.

the model I have is the Cobra.

Hmm, seems like somebody might wanna put together a kit with installation instructions and offer it in The Marketplace forum.  Just a thought.
