Title: Baffled with baffles?
Post by Scottwerty on 03/23/07 at 14:52:24

Hi Gang,
Got my baffles from Jireh,  1-3/4 8" long and was curious as to where i should place them in the muffler. place it inside of the muff header side or near tip. want to do it some what right :). Putting it in a hollow harley pipe if that matters

I have / had a fish tail straight pipe with an 8 hole baffle in it . I put the bolt in one of the slots at the head of the pipe, tight fit. then made a  filler shim out of flashing metal, clamped it down and put a polished hose clamp on the middle part.

It held fine but was way too loud. Too bad because it gave me a lot more power, looked good too.

I'm still looking for a good sound  that will keep the neighbors from pulling out the torches and pitchforks.

I tinkered around and it seems to give the best sound near the outlet about an inch or two deep I'm going to tack weld it in there. Thanks for the reply Holodeck

Let us know how it works out. I am fascinated with the sound of thumpers and love to mess around with mufflers.
