Title: Shock Adjustment
Post by monkee72 on 03/23/07 at 07:46:44

I put the 150 on the back, I really like the look of it. However, riding 2 up causes the wheel to come in contact with the fender.  I know about the shock adjustment, the 5 step deal, I believe.  But how do I remove the chrome cap on the bottom of the shock to gain access to adjusting?

When I readjusted mine, I removed the shocks.  If you have a lift and can unload the rear tire this will be easy.  I didn't have so I had to work harder.
And you don't need to remove the chrome.  Just stick a proper sized rod (allen wrench in my case) through the hole and twist it to the next setting.
I did one setting at a time cause of above problem, then put it back on and did the other side.  Repeat until happy with setting.   ;D

I believe the back side of the screwdriver blade in the OE tool kit also fits te shock adjustment hole. It may be difficult if you had saddlebags. Max

I bought one of those  $40 lifts from the local auto parts chain,  so far I have changed the forks, changed brake pads, cleaned brake pads removed both front and rear wheels, checked oil many times and did the shocks.

I remember when I bought it thinking, will I use this thing enought to spend the money. Nice little tool.

BTW the dealer wanted $100 to remove and replace one wheel.

Over here they're $50, at $40 I'd make like the ladies at a clearance sale!  charge! it!   ;D

you can just ask a strong pal to lift the back of the bike while you adjust the shocks. grab the rear fender and just get most of the weight off the shock and it's a snap.
