Title: Lockable Luggage
Post by grim on 03/21/07 at 23:01:48

I have searched the recommended sites for Savage parts in MarketPlace, but cannot find any good lockable+waterproof luggage/topracks/trunks.  Givi doesn't make mounts for this bike.   any help would be great.

I got on my Savage 2 Givi side cases (http://www.giviusa.com/caschi_borse_bauli_accessori.asp?CO_ID=17041)  and a Givi back case and a Givi back case (http://www.giviusa.com/caschi_borse_bauli_accessori.asp?CO_ID=17086 ) about 3Kg) with the brake light and back rest.
I just made the mount with Givi original parts.

I can send some photos.

I have the Leatherlyke hard bags.  Blog entry on mounting (http://www.dslretorts.com/Paladin/archives/000707.html)
6MB Video of removing/replacing bag. (http://savage.andruschak.net/Paladin/LeatherLyke_off-on.AVI)
Recent thread (http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=cafe;action=display;num=1169910056) on the bags after 2 years of abuse.  These bags are rated at 20 pounds weight / 18 quarts volume.

Hoese also makes a 35 quartTop Case (http://www.hoese.com/stores/showdetl.cfm?&DID=13&Product_ID=76&CATID=6) using the sides of the cruiser cases joined to make a 19" long x 14" deep x 17" wide box with backrest.  I figure the best way to mount that would be to replace the taillight with one under the fender, lose the pillion pad, cut the sissybar and weld on a suitable rack low and centered so that the topcase becomes a driver's backrest.

They also make a smaller 20 quart Smaller Top Case (http://www.hoese.com/stores/showdetl.cfm?&DID=13&Product_ID=75&CATID=6), 12" x 12" x 11" long, that it designed to mount to the sissybar.   Again I would relocate the taillight so as to mount the box lower.  (They also have a tiny 6"l x 7"w x 8"d glove box that mounts on the sissybar.)

That's how.

There aren't original Givi mount for Savage/Boulevard S40.

You have to buy the original conector's and design your own base.

Here In brazil it'll costs you about US$ 150,00, all chromed up already.

It'll use the original holes. I installed up myself.

Nice setup.  so how do i go about "custom building" a base mount.  What do I buy first?  What do I use?  Do I have to weld? Or can I do this at home?  Thanks

what brand/model of windshield do you have and how do you like it at 70mph.  Any wind effects?  Looks good

I prefer a more naked spartan look to my bike, callado, but must say your bike looks very sharp!!! :)

Thanx!
First off al, you'll need to buy the cases and the hooks (from Givi) (I don't know if these are the correct words)- you'll need them them to draw your base model (I made a wood model before sending it to laser cut a stainless stell plate).

There's no welding work needed!

After you draw the model, you'll need to laser cut a stailess stell plate.

To fix the base, you'll use only two holes: the originals for the turn signal and the original that fix the chrome metal thing in the bottom of the seat (I don't know the word for these) These one needs to drill.

But I really think that's easier order from the shop I told you before. It'll costs you no more than US$ 150,00 ~ 170,00 mail order incluse.
