Screaming eagles are single walled ... yes ...expect  some discoloration.

I didn't know that.  Since I was thinking that the 155 was possibly too rich the bluing didn't make sense.  Now I understand.

You only have to turn the idle screw to make the engine idle smoothly.  There is not a particular set point 'cause all bikes have little differences.  Once you get that set, then adjust the idle speed and forget it.  You're good to go.

The black soot could be from the 155 main.  Check your plug and see what color it is.

i checked the plug last night and it is chocolate brown....i think this is where it's supposed to be. right?

Jumpin in here... I use an old fashion dwell meter to adjust mine. Simply hook up on the coil of the cyl. carb. you are adjusting (for other multy cyl. bikes) set to rpms and find the middle point if the high and low rpms as you are adjusting carb. Always got very good results.

The idle air screw is adjusted for best running.  Turning the screw goes all the way in or all the way out goes from bad to bad.  It is the middle good point that you look for.  It is supposedly set that way at the factory and then plugged...

Then you set the idle speed with the thumb adjuster on the other side....a real good place to use your tach/dwell meter, too.  What is it?  1150 +\- 50 RPMs...

Yep the idle air mixture screw. Thats the part I left out. Thanks for the correction. ;)

Y'all used to be relatively close but Greg moved cross-country not too long ago and documented his trip on this site.

Yeah.  As Rob said, there we were thinking that we were about the only Savages on the east coast.  Then we moved west and found out that you and Steelwolf were there all along...

Let's all move to the middle, like in Oklahoma, and set up a Savage community.

Naaaaah, who would we terrorize? Each other? No Sportsters to scare, what fun would that be? I can't wait to get this thing ready to go looking for trouble. Can't see getting too weird with it knowing I am on the end of the cam chains tensioner adjustment, well, slightly past spec limit. Cmooooon cam & chain,,

You spose that will dictate a rejet?

Good question.  You getting a new cam, too?  Both lobes will have longer duration...

You'll have a bigger and longer "suck" and "blow"...the mixture stays the same, but the amount changes.

I'll bet I am gonna wish I hadn't opened that K&N flat filter & stuck it in the airbox. I will be wishing that I had a pod of some sort. Owell,, I will have to use this long enough to keep it from being a total waste. My Bad.

I don't think that'll change that much on that end.  The engine still has more capacity on the intake then the exhaust side.
