I have 2 questions, first is why my brakes sqweel even after replacing them and second, sometimes after a short ride when i turn the bike off then come back to it like an hour later the starter button doesnt do a thing. I turn the key to on and push the starter and nothing. After trying for at least 10 min it will finally turn over, why is this?

on the brakes a bit of antisqueal grease on the back on the pads helps some as does using some fine grit sand paper on the rotor like 400 or 600 and just go around the rotor a few times (front brake I assumed)

the nothing on the start button might be a little tougher - first is the battery good and the cables clean and tight - as in no doubt about it - after the bike has sat overnight without a charger on it measure the volts - should be at least > 12.5 hopefully higher 12.8 is real fine

on the nothing - do you hear any clicks at all or just a plan dead start button?

as reelthing said if its a plain dead start button pull your seat and look at the thin red wire off the solenoid, open the clip see if anything is growing in there clean and retry, if that fails tempory bypass and try, I've had both a dirty connection and a broken connector.

well there are no clicks or anything when i push the start button, the battery is brand new and all connections are clean and firm as i just rebuilt the bike 500 miles ago.

Also it is not just the front brake that is noisy, the rear drum is way worse in fact.

You may need to chamfer the edges of the pads/shoes.
But usually it's the dust.

What brand are the pads/shoes?

not sure but i got em at the local suzuki dealer and they are supposed to be oem replacements

OK so the starting prob has not been an issue till i got stranded on campus. Seems if i put the bike in gear (1st or 2nd)then roll the bike a little and let out the clutch it turns over the engine a little and then when i try and start it works fine. Does this mean that my starter is bad? or going bad?

Usually the problem is not in the starter switch, but in the clutch switch. Why don't you "jump" or bypass the clutch switch and see what will be the reasult?
