Hi LondonThing,
I'm new since you've last been around. Was there supposed to be a link to the bike in there?

I found this picture a while back:

Pretty slick IMHO. Looks like fun huh?

goldarn it, Gregg - if I'm gonna correct your English (heavy emphasis on English) I oughta get your name right!

sorry ;D george (I might object to the word limey but I definately come from the place where guvnor is spoken & have the dialect to prove it!)

note I don't say accent - you lot have the accent - we invented the language - you're the lot who screwed it up. tire for tyre, jeeze!

Always thought it was more like "Guvnuh"
But won't argue that point. Rednecks don't understand half of the Queen's English.  A friend of mine, who is a Mick, asked me if I wanted a poke. After seeing my expression, he said it was an ice cream cone in Ireland. I was relieved to say the least.

never heard an ice cream cone called a poke - must be Irish (who also can't speak English - but then as I'm a cockney neither can I). I  always thought a poke was slang for a screw (& not the kind you fix wood together with!) ::)

You were gone?  But enough about you, how's the bike doing?  Last pictures are from nearly two years ago: http://www.savageriders.com/gallery/London.htm

Thats what I was thinking too.

A poke, noun, as in a pig in a poke, is a small bag carried as a wallet/purse/catchall.  From Anglo-English to Middle English to Southern USA.  The dialect of the American South is closer to the Original Middle English than is the Modern English English.

Interesting. When I wasn't wild about doing something, I always said it was better than getting "poked in the eye."

I've always heard it put as being "better than a sharp stick in the eye".

I might be wrong on Geez, but stand by Guvnor, Gregg! :)

Incidently - very learned & interesting paladin - knew expression pig in a poke (as in buying a pig in a poke" but not the rest of definition. :)

I'd always heard it as "Don't buy a pig in a poke", meaning you shouldn't buy anything sight unseen.  I've read it originated in 15th or 16th century England.

Hm. How does that apply to buying on e-Bay?

No/inadequate photos/description and don't ask questions of the seller... I think that'd be pretty close.
