Title: You make the call.
Post by Brewbrother on 02/24/07 at 16:17:57

Riding my bike home friday afternoon. Clear skies, temp was 67 degrees. Light wind, low humidity. A mile into the ride the bike sputters and seems to be stalling. I reach down and move the gas valve to reserve and it picks up and runs fine for a half a mile and then seems to start dying, I reach down and turn the gas valve to prime and it catches and runs. I do this four or five times going to different fuel settings till I get to the house. Which was the culprit??

1-vacum line for fuel valve lost integrity or connection.
2-dirty air cleaner.
3-loose battery cable.
4-carb blockage.
5-dirty fuel pickup in tank.
6-faulty coil.

Well....

Will it idle at home now?

1. If it were vacuum, then prime should have fixed it.

2. Air cleaner would do it all the time (which it does), but I'd never suspect that unless you have a mouse nest in there.

3. I don't remember the battery connected to the carb.

4. Possibly.

5. Possibly.

6. You got home didn't you?

That might narrow it down to 2 :)

Check the petc0ck flow and drain the carb bowl to see what comes out and when.

Well, are you still drinking or are you gonna let us know what was wrong?

It was number 3. I recently installed a big crank and the connection on the negative side got loose.

Dang lucky it didn't suck a dent in the tank. It's not connected to the battery either!  ;D

Beware, some sphincters are so tight they only allow laughter at other’s expense. Glad I can laugh at myself as well as with others.

I sure am glad that anatomical area isn't my field of study.

I'd never be able to log off ;D

Why not? It's so close to home.

Sure wouldn't want that!

Ok... I'll quit... The horseplay should be over at the cafe.  8)

In your case, it belongs in the barn.
