hi i havnt had my savage long but am needing a relay already i think its for the decompression and starting. relay no 32910-24b10 if anybody can help i would really appreciate it. cheers littlelegs! :'(

local suzuki dealer should be able to hook you up,
Otherwise try bikebandit.com, or ronayers etc.

hi greg cheers f ya message. sometimes when u try and start it u just get a click. starter motor has bin checked out and that is ok. i think that relay operates the starter and decompression valve.if u have any ideas on problem?

Okay. Well, since it is a "click" that you hear, I am inclined to believe that the starter solenoid is working. But the question remains, what click do you hear?. There will be 2 clicks if the starter button is pressed, but if everything is functioning as it should you won't hear the second one as easily because of starter noise.

The first click is normally the decompression solenoid, and the second is the starter solenoid. Do you have the tank removed? Can you operate the starter button and confirm that the decomp solenoid is moving for the first click?

This process is controlled by the decompression module which is right above the carb. A short period after (I don't remember how long) the decomp solenoid operates, the starter relay is energized on the Y/B and B/W wires. Do you have a meter to check for 12V on those wires from the Decomp module to the relay when the button is pressed?

Have you also tried to BRIEFLY short the 2 large posts on the starter relay? That would confirm that the starter circuit is good. Just be careful not to short the positive to the frame or you might blow a fuse.

Additionally. You don't want to be fooled by a failed battery. On a rare occasion, the battery can show 12 V but still not have the load capacity to turn the starter. This can happen with a failed grid within the battery. So before you buy something, you may want to have the battery load tested.

I think this process should determine if it is the Decomp module of the Starter Relay.

As u said there are 2 clicks and when the engine starts, it is quite hard t hear the second click. The engine will start say f instance 8 or 9 times one after the other then all of a sudden it wont start ,but u hear the 2 clicks.I will get the battery checked out first n c how i get on .

By "start," do you mean "turns over" or the engine actually runs?

I'm not sure that I understand the problem. If you push the starter button 8-9 times and everything works...well, what actually isn't working?

If the engine doesn't run, then it just sounds like you are running down the battery and something completely different is the real problem.

The engine actually runs! The 8-9 times is how many times it starts without a problem.Then it just wont start and just keeps clicking twice,eventually starting again. sorry if i havnt explained myself very well but im new t this game.

With just getting the bike its not actually on the road yet. When i noticed the fault i started the bike then switched it off 8-9 times to see if fault would re-occur!When it did i thought i had a relay problem! Ive got a horrible feeling ive been doing something wrong now?

Hi all! Sorry i havnt been on line lately but work all over the country f a livin and am away quite a bit. Well Greg ive had the battery tested and u were right it has a dead cell! So even though i had it on an optimate charger all the time it wasnt getting through that cell. Wished id tried it sooner,would have saved a lot of messing around!Thanks again and no doubt ill have to pick your brains again in the future!
