Title: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by YonuhAdisi on 02/20/07 at 13:33:33 This is how I modified my driver's foot pegs. It works really well and looks pretty good too if I do say so myself. http://www.yonuhadisi.bravehost.com/How_to_Mod_a_2000_LS650_Savage.html I'll take pics of other mods as I do them and post instructions on my site as well for any who wishes to know. |

Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by vroom1776 on 02/20/07 at 15:27:48 pretty cool! |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by Fido_the_Cat on 02/20/07 at 18:14:29 I looked threw your directions a couple times and I like the theory you applied but I question the safety issues. I not only rest my feet on pegs, at times I stand on them. also by design I'm gonna get my leg/ankle caught, gauranteed! Again your idea is worth it's weight, trouble just seems to follow me at a close pace. |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by Greg_650 on 02/20/07 at 21:09:37 I give it a thumbs up for creativity. Proves there is definitely more than one way to do it. Fido_the_Cat wrote:
You can stand on your pegs? Good for you. I remember the dirt bike days, but these pegs are so far forward it takes a conscious effort to get my a$$ off the seat. |

Nope, I'm serious. And they work rather well, and feel more like floorboards than pegs, very confortable and very stable. |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by Stimpy on 02/22/07 at 01:10:06 Donīt take it the wrong way. Looks good and comfy. I use those things for EVERYTHING (to hang all kinds of tools, brooms, guitars, cables, even a chainsaw!) theyīre strong, but not THAT strong, even the steel ones. The thing I was thinking about here are G FORCES. (One G force is reaching 62 mph in 2.83 seconds). ...however in the event of a crash (god forbid) where you must stop in 1 foot from a speed of 30 mi/hr. Your body weight, i.e. 160lb, turns instantly to 4813 lb or 2.4 tons or 30 G's !!! What Iīm basically saying is: IF you hit a HARD BUMP with all your weight on the pegs, they could snap and you could lose balance. Ride safe. |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by Greg_650 on 02/22/07 at 05:57:17 The ones in my garage are bright red. Not a good color match... |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by justin_o_guy on 02/22/07 at 16:57:43 If I saw it in a parking lot I would go look at it. Looks good enuff. My issue with it is the strength. I know my riding style & they wouldn't be safe for me. In an emergency, they may not be stout enough for you. Good luck with that. |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by YonuhAdisi on 02/22/07 at 19:31:21 I have actually did some very rough testing on them. Hard excelleration and braking, rode over some really rough bumps, and even raised up a little bit on them to test the streangth in case I ever do have to try to stand up on them. Even with me weighing at approximately 254 pounds, they seem to be holding up rather well. |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by justin_o_guy on 02/22/07 at 19:41:46 Well,, awwriteee then, as long as you are looking at them & thinking about that stuff. Like I said, good luck with that & I mean that. I really don't want to find out they failed ya & you got all skinned up. BTW, are you a "peg dragger" in the corners? Are those shorter than original? |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by YonuhAdisi on 02/24/07 at 10:24:54 It all depends on my mood on whether I take the corners at a peg dragging angle. Most of the time I don't. They are a little longer than stock but the location is about 1/2 an inch higher and 1/2 an inch more forward than stock. That's just a rough estimate, I haven't actually measured it. And also the way I oriented them with the ends turned up, saves a bit on the peg dragging. Apparently my webhost won't let me post pics the way you have to here. |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by justin_o_guy on 02/24/07 at 23:10:51 Sounds like you've thunk it out. Since the pegs have no hinge they won't fold like the stockers. I'm sure you already gave that the thought it deserves. |
Title: Re: How I modified my driver's footpegs Post by Greg_650 on 02/25/07 at 12:23:32 Hey, if you do drag them and scrape some rubber off, then you get some braggin' rights, too. ;D |
