What models of seats fit the savage and where can they be found?

are you looking for a different seat or a replacement?  I have  a stock seat in great condition for sale if you are looking for a replacement.

The S40 seats take only minimal modification to fit the Savage.  A lot of folks have done a lot of things with various seats.  Do a few searches and read what's already been posted.

I still can't seem to make springs work on this one, but this one is wide enough for my butt and I hope it works good.

I did a V-Star on mine. Only had to fashion a bracket and pop rivit it to the bottom of the seat to bolt it to the frame flanges. It sits a little higher off of the frame 'cause I decided to keep the back seat and therefore the back of the saddle actually rests pretty tightly against the front of back seat. The front of the saddle also rides a bit higher up on the tank as well, acts like the seat mod to lift the front. Gives you a couple inches extra stretch to the pegs and sits real comfy.

I too have a stock seat off a 2k that could use a new home. I'll never go back.

Let me get back to you on that, Snicker Man!

What thickness of plate steel was required to support that span in the middle? ???

I doubt it compares to the support that Vroom has.  It's just a stamped plate.  About 18 ga.

It flexes a little bit, but not much.  Not like the plastic stock one which needs to be against the frame for support.

How about showing us you v* seat.
I'd sure like to know how you did it too.
I did the sportster mod and I'm noticably sit higher.
I want something lower.

My seat or someone else's?

Mine is further up above.  It is taller than stock, but even with the seat mods, my stock seat sucked.  Kills the tail bone because you slowly sag into the saddle with that plastic pan and you are basically riding on the frame

I had been trying to put a springer on the Savage, but the frame is a "pregnant dog"  sometimes.  Sluggo did it but I gave up for now.

I got that seat from J&P Cycles and it is my prototype.  I also wanted a wider seat to hold my wider seat.  Some get a Sporty seat or an S40 seat, but I'm just stubborn :P

I have the Sportster seat but I don't really like it because the slope of the shell causes a back ache after about 2 hours of riding.

Any ideas on how to straighten it or stiffen it?

Perhaps a restuff?

Can you post a pic of your sportster seat? I'm soon to get one. Couldn't pass it up for $30 and anything has to be better than the stock one I have. Also curious to see how you modified it for mounting, as I've yet to see that.

For John 1652 - Do you by chance have an S40 seat you are selling?  I have been looking for one, condition not important.  Need the pan for a custom seat project.
