I am looking for some S40 OEM drag bars, i want to replace my 2000 buckhorns with the S40 bars and was wondering if anyone had some they could part with? they cost near 90 bucks to get some factory replacements and i dont want to spend that much on bars. also, will i have to replace the cables when going from the buckhorns to drag bars?

You can't just switch the bars.  The drag bar requires the risers, whereas the buckhorns are almost clamped to the triple tree.

The alternate is harley bars, plenty available cheap.  I picked up a set made by Emco, only 2 or 3" of rise, too tight.  

Look for about 4" of rise minimum and what ever pull back that feels good to you.  The cables will be a little long, but except for the brake cable being a little saggy, it's fine.

am i looking for bars with dimples or no, and what are dimples anyway? what about drilled, what is that?

Does anyone know what the width of the S40 bars are?

My 2006 S40 stock bars are 27" wide

Well to perfectly honest, you CAN just swap the bars. Without the risers. However, if you do, depending on how you rotate the bar in the clamp you may have the bars hit the side of the tank. I rode mine that way for a while and for the most part did ok. But once in a while I would hit the tank at full lock turns.

If you use stock riser with a drag bar that has any degree of pull  you will lose full lock turning. I had 30 degree drag but after my thumb got between the tank and lever decide that was enough I put the stock bull horns back but upside down with 1.5" cut off each side now it has an even better racer feel to it.

was planning on using the stock S40 bars without the risers and turning them down to help avoid hiting the tank, anyone tried this,

cFlow, i noticed you had drags on that were slightly turned down, how did that set up work out for you. Also do you have any pics with the new bars?
