Title: looking for jet kits Post by cFLOW on 12/26/06 at 13:12:34 hey guys the final step for the savage. Im now doing the rejet but the only kit I can find online is the dynojet for $64 but I was wondering if I could find a kit for less. I was wanting to use a 155 main but not sure on pilot so if I could get some recomendations it would be great. Thanks |
Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by steelwolf on 12/26/06 at 14:21:39 You don't actually NEED the kit. You can buy individual jets at the dealer, online or from many independent bike shops. Much less money involved that way. As for recommending something, you need to be a bit more specific with what you have done already. Do you currently or plan to have a high flow air filter. I see that you have a wrapped header. Is it free flowing as well? This will determine where to start with the pilot jet size as well as the main jet size. |
Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by cFLOW on 12/26/06 at 14:35:40 high flow filter, the pipe is stock header but just a tip added. Ive done spacer mod down to half. |
Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by steelwolf on 12/26/06 at 16:53:13 Well my opinion would be that the 155 main should be fine. If anything it may be too big. I would suggest the purchase of a 152.5 as well since the jets are only about 3 bucks each. As for the pilot? There I would go to at least a #55 minimum. That open exhaust and the high flow air filter are really leaning out the mix. I run a 55 in my setup with the stock filter and open pipe and my idle mix screw is at 2 & 1/4 turns. Most folks don't like to go much further than that out before going the next size up. So for 15 or so bucks you can have 2 of each type jet and play with the combination to hit the mark. |

Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by Savage_Rob on 12/27/06 at 05:25:58 I've found jets at the local HD dealer for $3. |
Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by Five_Points on 12/27/06 at 09:37:12 I was told when I bought my bike that the bike was rejetted when he installed the Jardine muffler. He did not know what size it was jetted to, says a buddy did it. Are the sizes marked on the jets anywhere where I could find out if he actually did rejet it or not and what size the jets are in it now? I'm going to do the spacer mod here soon so thought I could take a look while it's opened up and figure out. Thanks in advance |
Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by Savage_Rob on 12/27/06 at 09:39:57 The size is stamped into the brass of the jet. It's small but it's there. |

Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by steelwolf on 12/27/06 at 14:52:00 I bought my jets from the dealer for 3 bucks each. If they are charging you 6-9 bucks each you should also ask for the Vaseline. |
Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by thumperclone on 12/27/06 at 15:39:40 save your money ( i wasted mine) dont buy the dyno jet kit the only thing you really get is an adjustable needle and main jets you wont use cept for one... |
Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by Steve530 on 12/27/06 at 20:40:05 I was looking around for jets for a friend's S40. The HD here told me they'd have to have a part number to look them up. All of the online places seem to selling them in packages of 4. I assume they mean you have to buy 4 main jets of the same size at a time. Looks like buying jets just got 4 times as expensive as it was a few months ago. So the "they only cost $3 a piece" should now be "they only cost $12, but you get 3 spares". :) |
Title: Re: looking for jet kits Post by YonuhAdisi on 12/29/06 at 02:54:03 I bought my 152.5 main and my 55 pilot for 2.99 plus tax a piece at my local Suzi Stealership. They had to order the pilot but it was in in about 2 to 3 days. Just be prepared to answer stupid questions from the parts clerk if he/she are anything like the clerk I had to put up with. |
