Title: Re: My Collection ?? Post by allan on 12/26/06 at 10:33:23 yes its the yellow one at the top running a 650 motor at moment as i require a cam chain (on order). :D I have another at back of garage which is a 91 model, this is another basket case that I'm going to do a full engine build on shortlly getting all parts together at moment (Ebay). will get pic's on build and post them as we go along. I have found this site invaluable for information, stealers wanted £70 for flywheel puller, got one from pit posse. for £38 including shipping over here. jealous of the cost of parts to you lads over there, have to get most of my stuff from Germany? |
Title: Re: My Collection ?? Post by Reelthing on 12/26/06 at 10:42:31 Lot's of talk around about a chain drive conversion on the ls650 to lower the highway rpms - just always seemed like the parts from a ls400 would be the way to go as so far as I've read they're just about identical except for the drive belt, cylinder, and decompres stuff. |
Title: Re: My Collection ?? Post by allan on 12/26/06 at 11:05:05 when i put 650 motor in i left the chain drive just put front sprocket and spacer in, it ripped the back sprocket up in no time (was an old one) so got replacements of a gs550 this worked for awhile but destoyed back sprocket again (700 miles) bought some new ones of ebay for gs 550 but keeping these for the 400 build, have gone back to belt, I dont think i ride hard just try to cruise, I'm not making judgement each to there own and I would stay with belt why else did suzi fit it. |
