Title: Did the TON!!!

Yea, you saw it right. I did the ton on the Cabber I finally finished it. I did the spacer mod adn some adjusting with the air/fuel screw and I went for a ride. Before all the mods top speed was somewhere around 85 now the speedo says 97 but with a 140/90-15 tire thats 101.462 if you figure the percent to speedo is off. Post new pic soon. It gloss black now adn air box is gone.

Glad you got it. I did a superslab run when I first got the bike, bone stock, long 20 mile straight run and got to the mid 90's going downhill at the very end. I won't be doing it again, But I salute your efforts. Looking forward to seeing the final results of your endeavors.

Congrats!

So far my improvements have taken my top speed from 87mph to just over 80. I've lost at least 5mph, but I haven't done needed carb jetting yet. Really doubt my Savage will ever see much, if any, over 90-95mph. That's ok by me though.

Since a tank slapper on my Norton cafe racer back about 1974-75 at about 120mph, I don't care much to go over 100 on a bike with spoke wheels.

My later model Yamaha's with mag wheels were smooth and stable at any speed I dared to crank too. I've probably ridden to 135mph before, but I doubt I'd care to go that fast ever again.

yea It felt like the engine had topped out too. Maybe somewhere around 7500 rpms but not sure.

someone here will know exactly what rpm you were turning based on the gear you were in & the tire on the rear

According to the 2002 Owners Manual:
The recommended top speed of this engine is 6500rpm;
6500rpm    in 1st gear  = 35mph
                     2nd gear = 55mph
                     3rd gear = 75mph
                     4th gear = 90mph
6500rpm     in 5th gear = 100mph.

Now, what is the real redline for this engine?
