Title: What engine is this? Post by HeresPaco on 11/26/06 at 01:26:26 Can any of you tell me what engine is in the LS650? I'm not familiar with this oiler design. http://www.ls-650.de/cpg132/albums/userpics/10032/fe_3%7E0.jpg HeresPaco Upstate NY '87 Black LS650F |
Title: Re: What engine is this? Post by lancer on 11/26/06 at 02:39:35 It is a Savage engine that someone cleverly added a piece to the outside to make it look like there was a pushrod tube on it. It is just for looks. |
Title: Re: What engine is this? Post by Kropatchek on 11/26/06 at 05:07:02 It's a towershaft dummy on a Savage engine. Nice looking though. Greetz Kropatchek ;D |
Title: Re: What engine is this? Post by HeresPaco on 11/26/06 at 18:10:02 Thanks for your expertise! I couldn't come to believe it was actually a Suzuki pushrod engine nor had I ever seen one like it. It sure got my attention. |
Title: Re: What engine is this? Post by Rockin_John on 11/26/06 at 21:46:30 Besides the phony push rod tube there are a couple of other things that stand out, to me, on this Savage: Note the dropped battery box and rectifier relocated onto the fender. I like both ideas! |
Title: Re: What engine is this? Post by Rogue_Cheddar on 11/27/06 at 10:12:26 Nice forward controls, directionals in the handgrips, and horn remounted under triple tree. Dyam! This bike has some stank on it! 8) |
Title: Re: What engine is this? Post by Brewbrother on 11/27/06 at 15:05:30 looks like it has an after market tank. It also seems to be missing the speedo cable. I wonder what will ahppen when they decide to do something about the exhaust. |
Title: Re: What engine is this? Post by Kropatchek on 11/28/06 at 03:14:37 FYI: The horn location is typical for European bikes. He has a bicycle computer installed: see the curled wire around the brake line ( stainless). The tank appears to be original and the battery box has it's topside ( the plastic part) removed The blinker on the steering bar end are the same as mine ( 20usd each). http://img124.imageshack.us/img124/9072/savhd1qa6.jpg Greetz Kropatchek ;D |
