Title: New Owner Chiming In
Post by Southpaw on 10/26/06 at 12:27:58

I just got my '04 this past week. It took 3 months for the owner and I to get the sale done, and I've been enjoying this site while I waited. Haven't owned a bike since '88 and I'd almost forgotten how good it feels to get out there! I really appreciate all the good tech info. provided and think its great that there are so many out there that share my appreciation for this underrated thumper! Looking forward to picking your brains as I ease my way back in the saddle again. Great site, keep up the good work!

Dan ;)

good to have you on site, bike & especially a Savage, Dan!

site is, as you said, wonderful - owned Savage since May & find help on here invaluable.

incidentally, thought you'd get a kick out of this - the club for literary types back in London (those in retail books or publishing) is called the Groucho Club due to that exact paraphrase you use from the most verbal of Marx's (discounting old Karlo Marx, of course!)

take it easy out there - after a long time off a bike hope you don't mind this advice - it helps to always remember "they" (4 wheelers) are all out to kill you!

Thanks for the welcome! I think I'll find anytime riding will be a "party". Thanks for the info. on Groucho, I've liked that line since college. ( Original quote, I believe, was "I refuse to have anything to do with any organization that would have the likes of me for a member") And as I remember it, the 4wheelers were trying to kill us back then too, and the cars were bigger! I did go back and take the MSF course last month to knock a little rust off. Great organization with lots of good skills for staying alive!

Welcome Dan. I actually remember Groucho reciting that line on his show, I believe. Yes this is a wealth of knowledge from the collective wisdom of experience. Two cheer to you for showing good "horse sense" in getting the MSF course under your belt.
Have a safe ride. It will just get better and better.

Welcome Dan!

Groucho fan Huh? One of my favorites from The Cocoanuts:

"Did anyone ever tell you you look like the Prince of Wales? I don't mean the present Prince of Wales; one of the old Wales. And when I say Wales, I mean whales. I know a whale when I see one."

BTW, here's a treasure of .wav files from the Marx Bros.
