Title: running boards Post by sharon on 10/11/06 at 17:21:01 I'm looking to put some running boards on my s40. I know Highway hawk makes some. How much is involved in installing them. I'm looking for something simple and everything I need comes in the box. |
Title: Re: running boards Post by thumperclone on 10/11/06 at 18:43:52 do a search on this site have seen posts relating to this..may need to try floorboards.. b.t.w. welcome to the forum 8) |
Title: Re: running boards Post by azjay on 10/12/06 at 19:50:34 these appear to be a bolt on, specifically for the savage. it cant get any simpler, remove a bolt, remove the peg, place the board, replace the bolt. http://www.classiccruiser.com/product.asp?item=380210 |
Title: Re: running boards Post by firsts40 on 10/27/06 at 19:26:09 I may be thinking of boards for my S40 also. I seen them for the Savage up to 2002. Is there any difference in the 02 Savage and the 06 models for the fitting of the boards? ??? |
Title: Re: running boards Post by azjay on 10/28/06 at 07:10:46 not that i'm aware of. this bike has remained relatively unchanged since it was introduced 20 yrs ago. most noteably a 5spd in '95?, then handlebars and seat when the started calling it an S40 instead of SAVAGE, '04? |

Title: Re: running boards Post by Jim_R on 10/31/06 at 13:10:57 Hey a centerstand comes in handy for oil changes and lubing your chain. I know u dont have chains but on my new bike I do. Plus its more stable on different terrian than using a kickstand. Also I did install a cigarette lighter for several reasons on my old Savage. I smoke and occasionally need a light. I had a cig adapter for my battery charger much easier. I had a cell phone charger for emergencies. If I wanted to run something like a radar detector. Hmm running boards only belong on trucks tho. |
Title: Re: running boards Post by Ed_L. on 10/31/06 at 18:28:49 Running boards and a cigarette lighter, what's next another cylinder and a comfortable seat ;D. Just joking, nice looking running boards, they would be great on a long ride. |
Title: Re: running boards Post by Oldfeller2 on 11/01/06 at 13:19:32 Do those running board thingies pivot up when you accidentally drag them going around a turn? Or are they hard/stiff firm-mounted (making them possibly a bit of a hazard in a heavy lean turn situation ??) Yeah, I know -- Harley's can't ever drag their side boards. But we can and do drag standard pegs on occasion on our more limber neat little Suzie thumper cycles. Those foot boards look to be a good bit wider than a peg, too. If they actually mounted on the same spot ..... Eeeerrrunch !! Oldfeller |
