Title: lets all get on the same page.
Post by sluggo on 10/06/06 at 14:06:23

for twenty years the machine was known as the savage. now they changed it to S40  what's the S mean, well savage of course.  so lets all get on the same page and call the S40's  savage's.. s40  it's so boring.   anybody else have an opinion.

Sounds cool Sluggo! S = Savage, 40 = cubic inches (or 652cc's for us in the "metric" countries  ;) )

Hell, we're all on the same page anyways when it come to the love of these particular motorcycles!!

PS, I have a request Sluggo could you check out the question I'm asking under "It's Baaaaaack"

i'm the wrong guy to ask that question, my original thumper the gn400 by suzuki backfired for 98,000 miles, my current thumper backfires, but i pay it no mind. i even use the kill switch to scare the crap out of people at bus stops  8)

when suzuki put their cruisers under the boulevard moniker..they defined s as sport..c as classic..m as muscle..think they sucummed to "political correctness"
in our case (thumper, suzi, salad shaker,my mistress,s-40 savage, etc) its STILL an ls 650....and thats all i have to say bout that..run forest run... ::)
(is it a spade or a freakin shovel)

Sounds good to me. I always thought of my 2005 as a Savage since that's what it was called for 19 years.

never thought of mine as a LS650 or thumper clone's as a S40, just both of them Savages, even if I don't have the name anywhere on my bike - nor Suzuki (courtesy of the previous owner but fine by me).

seems ironic - I'm not really brand loyal but purely by coincidence I have a "mini jap jeep" - a Suzuki Samurai, so I have 2 Suzukis both with a "strong" name starting with S in fact!  :)

Can we change the name of the site to Suzuki Boulevard S40.com please?

So where is my M40?

And it is and always will be a Savage.

My wife and my two daughters bought me a Suzuki Boulevard S40 last november 2005. We like the bike very much because of its style, size, price....
The name Boulevard sounded a little bit new to me then as well as its road name: S40. I thought it must be a new design.
I then take a look at the bike owner manual; there is no S40 word printed on the manual at all, only LS650. I believed the gave me a wrong manual. After reading the manual and comparing to the actual bike, it is all about the same bike: LS650 = S40 and vice versa.
My bike is part of the LS650 family, just a nomenclature change for commercial purpose.
To make it short, this Savage site is very helpful to the owners of this Suzuki Savage and Boulevard family.
It is important to know where are your roots, so for me, no need to change the name of this site.
Happy riding to all!

No mater what, it will always be a savage in my eyes  8)
What suzuki desides to call it must be their concern.

Well, it was a Suzuki Savage LS 650 when my son gave it to me, so I will stick with the Savage name.  I like it.
I have been considering putting Savage Beast on the bike when I repaint it.
I am already using the name for the performance parts group I sell.
I just like the sound of it.

I took all of the stuff off of the Savage that says Boulevard.  The last thing to go was the little emblem on the back of the seat.  Now the two screws are showing.  Wonder if they sell savage emblems for the back of the seat.  Hmmm.

My solution (click on pic for large version):
http://savage.andruschak.net/Paladin5_.jpg (http://savage.andruschak.net/Paladin5.jpg)

Printed out, glued to wood (or metal) backing, several coats of clear lacquer, glued to sissybar.  You could put any image there.

I have a 2005 S40, but whenever somebody asks what it is, I say it's a Savage. I say this to save time, and because the bike's been called a Savage almost forever.

If the conversation continues (as it usually does) I explain that the new name is a Boulevard S40...

Heh.... I still prefer my wife's scrambling of Savage into Scavenger.  Now we are THE SCAVENGERS!  By the way, my first Suzuki was a 1974 scrambler, a 250cc two-stroke dual purpose, also called.... dah, DAH ...... the Savage!

My bike looks very different now than it did 2 years ago, so people sometimes ask me what it is. "Suzuki Savage". I get "Oh yeah, always liked those" or something like that. With all the parts I replaced I sometimes think of it as my Suzuki Salvage. :) But I like it.

thumper is now considered a "hand built" in the state of washington, due to all the  changes i've made. the key is that the machine no longer resembles any production bike. next time i register it, i'll change the designation.  but it's still a "savage"

And yet a Baja Bug, bobbed front and rear, sans running boards, a bored and stroked 2-liter mill, transporter rear axle and giant tires, is still a Volkswagen Sedan.  Insane.

Here in CO, it is "home built."  I still register it as a savage, of course... esp. considering the hassles and taxes associated w/ a "home built" bike... like my poor buddy Chuck who repleced the engine in his old HD and had to re-register it... ALL sorts of hassles.  and the darn VIN tag they bolted to his frame.... BS!

It's a SAVAGE!
