Title: Center stand? Post by jrdudas on 09/05/06 at 07:07:04 Anyone ever try to put a center stand on their Savage? Either an after-market stand or one from a different Suzuki model. A center stand is one of the items I really miss on today's cruiser bikes. JR |
Title: Re: Center stand? Post by Brewbrother on 09/05/06 at 18:20:23 I have yet to see an after market product. I have one from my previous bike but the question becomes, where to mount it. The frame in my opinion does not leave any real place toattach it. Plusit would be a rather short stand as again space is critical on a smaller frame bike. |

Title: Re: Center stand? Post by bikingb on 09/06/06 at 06:28:47 There is one on the kawasaki 750 Cruiser that I think would work for the savage. I've looked and looked and looked online and keep getting nos. I really look forward to seeing what you do with finding a solution for this. |

Title: Re: Center stand? Post by Ed_L. on 09/07/06 at 17:00:24 I've been rolling around how to design a center stand for a Savage for a while. I think we all agree the main problem is ground clearance when mounting it. Now a though just occured to me, instead of using a "H" design with two legs would it be possible to make one designed as a upside down "T". It would take up a lot less room and could swing up under the frame. Any thoughts on something that different? |
Title: Re: Center stand? Post by jrdudas on 09/07/06 at 19:08:26 Seems like an upside down "T" would work; just have to figure out a way to steady the vertical leg against side-shift. Also an upside down "U" like the one on my Vespa years ago will work. Now you've got me thinking. JR |
