Hi! I am a motorcycle newbie. I took the safety class, got my endorsement, and found my Savage in May. Since May I have logged 2500 miles. I have been loving every minute I am able to spend on the bike. ;D
I did the newbie thing one night after a ride with friends, forgetting to turn the key off, and killed the battery. To add insult to injury when I got the battery jumped (cause we couldn't compression start it) We hit construction traffic that lasted 2 hours and overheated the engine.
I replaced the oil since I was told that I "cooked" the previous oil. But since then I have a slight oil leak.
I have traced it to (as my Clymers manual) calls it, the decompressor assembly (oil seal) that sits on the top of the cylinder. I need to replace the oil seal and the sealing washer in hopes that this will stop the leak, it is getting worse.
I have been looking online but I am having a tough time finding the parts in the schematics that I've seen.
Could anyone out there please help me? Maybe I am looking on the wrong schematic, or maybe it is called something else, or maybe what I am looking for is a common part used in many places? Please help! ??? Thanks

Check out this schematic. The items you're looking for are #22 and # 27.
