Title: Highway hawk mufflers and baffles
Post by blackiex on 08/05/06 at 15:05:05

Hello!

Well, I guess I found the source of my terrible exhaust pipe. It looks great, but makes heavy backfiring and extreme high pitched noise. I found some factory baffles for those exhausts, but I don't know how it should be assembled. Here they are:
www.highwayhawk.com , among the Exhaust, in the Universal section. (I have a turn out style)
Does anybody have experience with aftermarket mufflers and baffles and their assembly?

Thanks in advance!

By the looks of things your baffle will be bolt in. To do this you must remove the muffler from the bike and drill a hole in it for the bolt to go in. then just bolt the baffle in and remount it to the bike.

JMO, but the backfire is probably something other than not having a baffle. I am running an open pipe and have no backfires at all. Most backfires come from either a leak in the intake or exhaust system or the pilot jet. Have you done the white spacer mod?

No, I have stock jets and intake filter with normal spacer. But the main point is the noise, I have to take it to MOT and I am afraid its sound won't make it easy. Stock Sportster muffler for sale is very hard to find, like a stock exhaust muffler.
I thought I buy a baffle, put same glass pack in and let a rip...
