Title: hot rotor Post by serowbot on 08/01/06 at 15:37:44 Just replaced my pads with ceramics but while checking the old ones I noticed that the rotor gets very hot. I don't mean after heavy braking or anything... just from rolling along. The friction is enough to get the rotor to hot to touch! Normal? |
Title: Re: hot rotor Post by Reelthing on 08/01/06 at 18:04:02 could be drag'n a little - did you lube the pins when you did the brakes? should slide fairly easy |
Title: Re: hot rotor Post by Keith_B on 08/01/06 at 20:41:12 Sounds normal for it to be a little hotter than you can hold your hand on. But I agree to clean and lube the pins. ;) |
Title: Re: hot rotor Post by Savage_Rob on 08/02/06 at 05:59:39 Mine gets pretty warm too. I notice it when I put my disc lock on it. |
Title: Re: hot rotor Post by serowbot on 08/02/06 at 10:19:06 What pins? Is that the single-disc piston ? BTW, thanks for all the responses. |
Title: Re: hot rotor Post by Reelthing on 08/02/06 at 15:23:09 this has a bit of info in it - the pins are under the rubber boots - that are what the moving half of the caliper slides on - if these are dry or dirty it can make the pads drag a little - http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=tech;action=display;num=1099514582 |
