i am having trouble finding TDC
i rotate counter clockwise till notch lines up but i have free play in rocker arms on each time the valves close.
in other words every time notch lines up i have free play in rocker arms. thge piston is at top of it's stroke each time the notch lines up

what the h am i doing wrong ?

TDC will have more play in the valves that non-TDC.  Sometimes it is a very minute amount, so you have to really be paying attention to tell it.

If you are trying to determine TDCC, rotate the engine until the intake valve compresses. The next TDC that arrives is the compression TDC. That's the one you want for repairs and adjustments.

Bentwheel, that should work as i can see the intake valves compress.
