Well I finally got around to posting the pic of my new brake light. Yea I know, I'm just lazy sometimes. Anyway, here it is. Took off the license plate light and it fit in the same spot with only having to put a thin plate across the holes as a washer.

You could get some stainless carriage bolts to put in the holes. It may not look too bad that way.

That looks COOL! Nice job! How about finding a licence plate holder to go on top of the fender like some cruiser-bikes have? That'd show off the big fat tire and cover the holes.... Man, that bike looks slick. REALLY nice job!

uh, there are these doo dads called "hole plugs" or "mistake fixers" or something like that. basically they are little plastic, round, smooth little guys that you just kinda pop into there. You could paint them yellow. I think you can find them at Home depot, or maybe ace.

Soemone suggested a new LP bracket. I've made three, one for my V* classic, savage, and my friend's v* custom. Very easy to do... the instuctions belwo are for a side mount setup.

DIY Sidemount LP instructions:

Go to Ace hardware and get a right angle bracket for a bookcase or shelf. Make sure it's kinda strong. You can get 2 in a pack for $4. Go to your local metal shop and by a LP sized piece of 1/14" diamond plate (aka tread palte) or smooth polished aluminum. Yank out the lower bolt on the shocks. Size it and drill one hole through the right angle bracket kinda near the bend (3/4" or so). Shave off most of the extra part on the far side of the hole; an angle grinder with a cutting wheel works well. Now take your LP, drill some holes in it to match the remaining holes on the right angle bracket (if you bought a different bracket than I did, you may have to add some holes to the bracket). Stick the bracket between the LP and the diamond plate and attach with chrome acorn nut that you also bought at Ace. Tighten the bolt to 17 ft-lbs. Ride.

Note: there is NO electricity here, so you have no LP light. Somecops will pull you over for this. Also, the LP can be horizontally or vertically mounted.

For the V* custom, which has a similar fender to the savage, I didn't use bracket, just a piece of aluminum that was shapped like the top half of an "H," with the middle real fat/tall, about the size of the LP, and two holes to bolt it to the back side of the tail light, however it is attached to the fender. I then put a little bend in it to make it stick up a little.

When I mounted the light I considered a side mount for the plate but I didn't like the way it stuck out so far due to the already wide offset of the shock absorber. I even built the mount where it would protrude to the right covering the shock but it just didn't suit me there. The top mount for the plate kinda defeats the purposee of the tail light mounting under the fender. I like a smooth rear end. ;D (Not just good for bikes ya know) Anyway, I like the little plug idea Vroom. That may very well be the ticket.

Grabs on for someone on roller skate ???
Just kidding!!!

You could bolt a home made luggage rack...
or somekind of ornament or another breaklight for visibility or just plug them up. A proffessional body shop could also make it smooth like new if paint match is not a prolbem, a little costy but a good look.
It`s your call.

ps: still smiling about the grabs on... ;D
