We really need to update this site. We are using YaBB 1, as you can see from the bottom. YaBB 2.1 is now available with lots of neat updates (Guest ban, etc.) I have been trying to get ahold of the Almighty Johnh to no avail. The domain is coming up for renewal in July as well. Anyone have a better point of contact then me? I think I can really help with keeping the site up, its how I bring home the bacon.

If the moderators were not 2 monosyllabic imbeciles who think that bragging about dope smoking is cool, instead of confirming they are dirt bag losers, then maybe they would figure it all out. Funny they can delete any posts which question their credibility, yet they can zap spam.

Looks like the diss was from an insignificant guest anyways. ;)

YaBB is cool, there are just so many different BB types that are newer and more efficient that it's hard to choose. This is the first time I've used YaBB and it's ok. For instance, XOOPS, I love their system. It's very secure as well. I have a friend that uses it and doesn't have many problems.

The spam has been getting worse recently though. Maybe the update would help.

Ya i thought of that, I just figured will all the "old timers" here any major changes might be catastrophic. Would be nice to migrate to a news forum, but if we can just upgrade this one, keep it simple, I think it could work.

Moderators have very little additional access/authority. In general, we have access to the modify and remove functions of all posts instead of just our own and we have the ability to upload image files to a directory on the server to reference in the Tech Ref forum. That's pretty much the extent. Anything else is relegated to the Admin. As an FYI, I don't smoke anything since quitting cigarettes several years back.

Rob, while I know it is human nature to defend oneself, this kind of thing really shouldn't get under your skin. This guy is just here to show what an @ss he can be. If you have any doubt of how the "real" members of this board feel about the job you and the others are doing just go back through the posts and count the times you see "thank you".

Oh yea, and while "xyzxyz" was busy showing off the big words he found in the dictionary, he forgot how to spell "can't".

Nobody pays to use this site with all it's great information and helpful people. I know anytime I've had a question, it was effectively answered within a couple hours. Rob and Sluggo do a great job making this site a useful tool for all Savage owners, and anyone looking for info on the Savage.

IMHO, YaBB has some faults. It doesn't give one the option of ignoring someone (like Jethro here who can only spell the last 3 letters of the alphabet twice in a row), and is not quite as full featured as some other BB software out there.

I tend to be a V-Bulletin fan myself, and I know Jelsoft makes some good BB stuff as well. PHP is OK, but not as good IMHO.

I do think that the moderators have done a good job and don't need to respond especially to a guest. In particular since the spammers are the ones using the guest accounts. I do hope that the owner of the site will be able to clear up the problem soon, the number of guest posts is becoming annoying.

I believe that during their upbringing someones parents failed to take someone out behind the woodshed and teach them some humililty and manners with the proverbial switch.

May we always have moderators such as we have here! I've given up on other forums, partially due to moderators, and partially due to in fighting. LS650 riders have been fortunate here to have good moderators, and very little fighting among ourselves. May such things continue!

I agree with you about the V-Bulletin. Another site I go to dedicated to one of my favorite authors uses V-Bulletin. I must say with that set up, it is much easier to post pictures and the like.

And Mods, ya'll are doing a great job.

Someone once said that if nothing bad ever happened, we'd never realize how good most of life is.

I think that it applies here. We have a great group of people and great moderators, and sometimes we take it for granted.

Then some a**hole like this shows up and it's stop a minute and we say "what a great place" and jump in to defend it.

All of which was the long way to say, this xyzxyz (male, female, transgende, whaver) obviously doesn't ride a Savage and that's what's wrong with his/her/their life..

Thank you moderators for your time and efforts. I do think luken brings up an interesting issue- could the site be improved. With guilt I admit I haven't anteed up yet., so contributing to the as is or a new improved would each be okay- would the costs be similar?? And in either case, about how much would be an acceptable donation. (I do hope the rain stops so I can go riding) :D
