Are the screws on the carb bowl as soft as the ones on the carb cap?? anyone know what size??

I've heard alot of people say that they are. In my experience I had no problems with the bowl screws or with the ones on top. Guess I had a good screw driver or maybe I just got lucky. I don't know the size of them though just take one out and take it with u to the hardware store. That's what I would do

m5x10mm for the cap and m5x15mm for the bowl - stainless allen head work real fine

Yes, very soft and very tight from the factory. 1/2 of mine stripped with a good screwdriver. I have stainless allen heads now.

Pointy vice grips are your friend ;D

Ya, I was told from the guy that I bought my bike from that I should replace those bolts even though nothing was wrong with them. I think it just gave me an excuse to do the Dynojet. ;)

Rejetting is one thing but skr00 the DJ kit unless you intend to make use of the free dyno run coupon. Otherwise it's a waste of money. Do the spacer mod and buy a few main jets at $3 each.

Either way, replace all eight of the screws with stainless allen screws. You'll be a lot happier on any future access efforts.

My Keihin FCR 41 has allen bolts everywhere, makes things much easier.

I did the spacer mod and the main jet replacement last night, what a pain in the arse the top screws were. The things were so darn soft. I had to finely pull the carb off to actually secure it down to get a good hold on the screws. The screws on the bowl came off really easy, but that is because the factory had actually put locknut washers on the bottom screws. I replaced the screws with M5 x 12mm - 0.8 for the top and M5 x 15mm - 0.8 for the bottom.

I have a sportster muffler on with a 12" adapter and a new fabricated bracket that attaches to the stock muffler hanger, I like the look of the long pipe but I have to find a heat shield to cover it. I bought header pipes and heat shields from a 2000 HD Heritage to see if I can adapt one of the shields for my needs.

Did the spark plug henge while I had everything off the bike as well. I have 1500miles on it, so I guess the next thing will be a valve adjustment in the fall.
